Engineer resume for the USA and Canada
North American employers want short, quantified achievements: what you built, how big, how fast, how much you saved. One page, ATS-friendly.
Licensing and work permits
- USA: most industry engineering jobs do not need a PE licence; it matters for signing public drawings. A credential evaluation (for example WES) helps employers understand your degree.
- Canada: the title “Engineer” and P.Eng. are regulated by provincial associations (for example PEO in Ontario). Many newcomers start as EIT under supervision.
- For Canada's Express Entry you need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- On the resume: “Engineer-in-Training (EIT), PEO – P.Eng. in progress” or “WES evaluation: equivalent to US Bachelor's degree”.
